Welcome to the last Priority Pay blog for 2023! On behalf of our entire team, we wish you all a very happy and successful new year. Here’s hoping that 2024 is your most prosperous year yet! There are, of course, many steps you can take to ensure that the new year is the best one in your company’s history. Might there be some things to add to this year’s list of New Year’s Resolutions?
Focus on employee morale.
It’s vital that you pay close attention to your company culture. Fostering an environment that your employees enjoy working within is a great way to increase productivity, boost sales and improve customer satisfaction. In 2024, incentivize your employees with opportunities for growth and increased income. As well, be open to feedback in order to improve the working environment.
“A happy team is a productive team,” writes Nick Venditti of StitchGolf on Forbes.com, “An overworked, miserable team gets you nothing but resignation letters. It may just surprise you how much productivity can be cultivated from positive motivation. I would encourage all businesses to take a closer look at what they can do to support their own team moving forward. You should also apply this newfound kindness to yourself too.”
Increase your networking efforts.
“Two heads are better than one” goes the old saying. But who says you have to stop at two? It’s wise to continually connect with like-minded business professionals. By networking, you grow the reach of your brand. Potential partnerships can emerge from having discussions with non-competitors. This is especially likely at trade shows, which give you many networking opportunities. Make efforts to attend or be a vendor as often as you can in 2024.
“If you make an effort to make a new connection once a week or monthly, you improve the odds of finding a new business lead, learning some valuable trade intel, or creating a strong professional relationship,” says Jacqueline DeMarco on NerdWallet.com, “The more you network, the more results you’ll see. Schedule networking on your calendar like any other to-do to ensure it becomes a priority and not an afterthought.”
Pay attention to your customers.
Who better to let you know how your business can improve than the people who support it? Consumers greatly value having their opinions heard and respected. In 2024, implement changes based on feedback you receive. Be sure to let your customers know those changes were made because of the feedback they provided.
As Blair Williams of MemberPress points out on Forbes.com, “people often share their feedback via reviews, emails and direct calls, but it’s rare for such information to flow to the top of the organization. You need to commit to hearing what your customers say and to respect what they’re saying too, even if it’s not complimentary. It’s only when you understand how customers think and feel that you stand a chance and create a product they’ll love.”
